As an expression of its mission to bring people, ideas and opportunities together for the enrichment of our community, the Estes ValleyPublic Library District (Library) will offer a wide variety of programs for all ages.

Ultimate responsibility for Library programming rests with the Director, who administers under the authority of the Board of Trustees.  The Director, in turn, delegates program management to the Program & Outreach Supervisor and staff. The following criteria are used in making decisions about program topics:

  • Consistent with the Library’s mission, goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated and emerging interests of Library users and the community
  • Availability of staff, space, budget and other resources

The Library’s philosophy of open access to information and ideas extends to Library programming. Programs shall not exclude topics, materials, speakers, media, and other resources because these might be controversial.Library presentation of a program does not constitute an endorsement of the content of the program or the views expressed by participants, any more than the purchase of material for the Library collection constitutes an endorsement of the contents of the material or the views of its creator.

The Library draws upon the community in developing programs and actively partners with other agencies, organizations, institutions, and individuals to develop and co-present public programs. Only partners deemed appropriate and compatible with the mission, goals and policies of the Library will be considered.

In addition, the Library has a commitment to offer programs in partnership with the EstesValley Library Friends & Foundation, to serve our community of patrons and donors.

Any program undertaken by the Library and any of its partners must respect the Library’s commitment to intellectual freedom. Material and program content must be mutually agreed upon by the Library and its partner.  Library has final determination of program and material content.  Programs are not used for commercial, religious, or partisan purposes.

The Library:

  • will develop each partnership on an individual basis, and document the terms and conditions in writing.
  • reserves the right to cancel an existing agreement

In general, admission is free for Library programs. However, at the discretion of the Library Director the following will be permissible forLibrary-initiated fee-based programs:

  1. Fundraising to benefit the Library
  2. The sale of books by its author as part of a Library program
