The Library has 5 HP Chromebook Laptops available for one-week checkout with your Library card. To place a hold, use this link into the catalog, or contact us at (970) 586-8116. Chromebooks on hold may also be picked up using our convenient Curbside Service Appointments.

When in-stock, the Chromebooks are displayed on a kiosk at the Library and available for same-day checkout, but advance holds are recommended.

The Chromebook checks out in a  laptop bag that contains a charger, a wired mouse, and an instruction booklet. Once checked out, patrons may use the Chromebooks from home or from other off-site locations. Plan to use the Chromebook in an area with WiFi coverage. (WiFi is available in the Library parking lot and from outdoor seating). Some Chromebook features are available offline, but require additional setup after logging in.

If you log into the Chromebook with a Google account, you’ll be able to use any files you have saved to your Google Drive, as well as create and edit documents in Google Docs (similar to Word), Sheets (similar to Excel), and Slides (similar to Powerpoint). You’ll also be able to use any website or web-based service, either by visiting the website or downloading an app. The included instruction booklet has more information about downloading apps.

If you don’t have a Google account and choose to use the Chromebook as a guest, you can still browse the internet and use any web-based service. Although simple in appearance, the Chromebook is powerful enough for videoconferencing and streaming movies and TV shows if it has a strong WiFi connection.

Printing is not available directly from the Chromebooks. Go to estesvalleylibrary.org/print and learn how to send in your printable documents for pickup at the library.

Chromebooks are available for residents of the Greater Estes Valley. They are currently not available for check-out with a Visitor Card.
