To help ‘flatten the curve’ of the outbreak and protect vulnerable populations, the Library facility including The Twig is currently closed until further notice. Staff members are working from home to provide remote services.

COVID-19 Precautions: Temporary Library Closure Now in Effect

We at the Estes Valley Library have been carefully monitoring the advisories and recommendations from our state, county and local health professionals. New information continues to develop quickly.

Based on latest recommendation regarding coronavirus precautions, a full closure of the Library facility is now in effect.

As a service-minded organization, this was a difficult decision. Yet experts remind us that a coordinated societal effort will “flatten the curve” of the virus’s reach, helping protect our most vulnerable populations.

Here are key updates and reminders we want to share:

Do you currently have Library materials checked out? Keep and enjoy them during the closure! Due dates will be suspended. And we are fine-free. All outdoor book drops have been closed.

When will the Library re-open? The Library is closed until further notice. We will monitor developments on a daily, and often hourly, basis.

Library Wi-Fi will continue to be available throughout the closure, accessible from the parking lot. Practice safe distancing when out and about.

The AARP Tax Assistance Program has been suspended nationally. No appointments are available at this time. We’ll announce any updates regarding this service.

The Twig Mini-Branch at the Estes Valley Community Center is temporarily closed, along with the book drop at that location.

Cliffhanger Used Books will remain closed until further notice.

Library Programs have been suspended during this closure. We intend to re-schedule them when possible. Many live-stream programs with our friendly Library staff, including weekly storytimes, can be found on our Facebook page.

Inter-Library Loan service has been temporarily suspended. If you have an Interlibrary Loan item, keep it for now. We will work with lending libraries to assure due dates are extended until re-opening time.

If you need to contact us, we will remain available throughout! Leave us a phone message at 970-586-8116: we monitor calls 7 days a week during regular Library hours. Email us during the closure at answers@estesvalleylibrary.org. Or reach out through the Library’s Facebook page. We look forward to hearing from you: keeping in touch, but without the current risks of touch!

Claudine Perrault, Library Director

What will Library staff do during the closure? Staff members are working their regular hours from home—on our laptops and on our phones. We’ll continue to be serving you, focusing on remote services and exploring new ones. And we’ll be focused on restoring physical services as soon as is advisable.

We at the Estes Valley Library wish to express gratitude to all our patrons and community partners, as we’ve been implementing precautions to adapt our services amid this global and local response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Regular updates will continue. Thank you for your understanding during this time.
