Dear hoopla users,

We are happy to report that hoopla has proven extremely popular with library patrons. In order to assure that we have funds available to sustain the service, there will be a limit of 5 transactions per patron per month beginning Tuesday, May 1. This is a change from the previous 10 transactions per month.

With more patrons using hoopla, this change has become necessary to assure that our 2018 budget will sustain the approximate $2.15 per transaction costs charged to the library by the product vendor. This cost remains a good investment and it is on par with per-use transaction costs for print and other digital services. We hope you continue using and enjoying the hoopla digital collection, and we encourage you to explore our two other digital content offerings:

Libby, powered by Overdrive: a great source for audiobooks, ebooks, video, and music (users may borrow 5 items at a time, no monthly limits)

The Cloud Library: a great source for ebooks (users may borrow 3 items at a time, no monthly limits)

You can learn about both services by visiting our digital content link at https://estesvalleylibrary.org/collections/digital-collections-by-service/. You may also make a Book-A-Librarian Digital Collections appointment where we’ll be happy to demonstrate these offerings and assist in downloading the apps.

We are pleased that digital content continues to grow in popularity. Over 300 patrons have begun using hoopla since it was launched two years ago, with more than 6000 item transactions. Audiobooks have been the most popular content area, accounting for 41.5%, followed by movies, music and ebooks.

We thank the Estes Valley Library Friends & Foundation for funding digital collection services since their launch.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like to make a Book-A-Librarian appointment. We look forward to your continued use of these services, and we are happy to help.
