Newspapers are representative of the collective interests of a community, as they chronicle the goings on at the time of publication. In Estes Park, the following publications have served the interests of locals and visitors alike:
The Mountaineer
Trail Talk
Trail Gazette
Mountain Gazette
Estes Park Trail Gazette
Estes Park Digital Historic Newspaper Collection
The Estes Valley Library and the Estes Park Museum, in cooperation with the Estes Park Trail Gazette, are working to provide high quality, word-searchable access to all years of the Trail Gazette, eventually bringing the Colorado Historic Newspaper Collection to present day. Projected completion of this project is 2028.
As of 2023, Estes Park newspapers from 1912 – July 1993 are available online at Colorado Historic Newspapers. Read the most recent update about this project here.
Microfilm of the majority of these publications 1908, 1925-2013, is available at the second floor service desk. A card catalog is available referencing newspapers on microfilm (through approximately 1991) and items now located at the Estes Park Museum. This volunteer catalog project from 1992, despite some inaccuracies and missing references, remains an excellent reference for newsprint prior to 1992.

Plains to Peaks Historic Newspaper Collection
The Colorado State Library, in partnership with the Wyoming State Library and the University of Wyoming, launched the Plains to Peaks Historic Newspapers database.
This collection combines the content of the CHNC and the Wyoming Newspapers collection for simple one-stop discovery. This new initiative also includes the design of a new and improved Wyoming Newspapers site located at www.wyomingnewspapers.org with content provided by both the Wyoming State Library and the University of Wyoming.
